Early Easter Celebration

Since it is the last day of school before the 2-week Easter Break, an early Easter Celebration was held.

The KIGA and Primary students had an egg hunt followed by the traditional Easter Brunch.

Families brought some food to be shared with the school community...

Just before lunch, the grounds were cleared to make way for a fund raising event organized by the Grade 9-12 students in cooperation with the WWF (World Wildlife Fund).

RUN FOR DAVAO...

The run was meant to aid the Typhoon "Pablo" victims in Davao with home and livelihood rehabilitation.
Students and Parents were to pledge a minimum of Php100.00 for every rounds they make during the run.
It was a fun and fulfilling day indeed.

My Princess is 4!

My little princess had a simple celebration in school. She has been waiting for this day to come, even her classmates were doing a countdown to her birthday.

Papa Garcia took a leave of absence from work as per request of the birthday princess.

A birthday wouldn't be complete without a cake. For her celebration in school, we ordered a cake from Aggy's Bakeshop. It  as a chocolate moist cake, their best seller and it didn't disappoint. The kids loved it that they gobbled it all up. 

We also brought in some popcorn, cheese sandwiches and sausages.

 

For the popcorn, I bought Chef Tony's Gourmet Popcorn in Original Caramel flavor and I was able to find cupcake liners/cupcake cups with a princess design. I decided to put the popcorn in the cupcake liners for added presentation and it was a hit with the kids.

As for the cheese sandwiches, I decided to cut the sandwiches into different shapes using cookie cutters.

We also prepared some loot bags for the kids which we sourced out from Divisoria. 

The kids really had a lot of fun and of course our birthday girl was very happy with her party. That makes me a happy mom.

FUN FILLED BIRTHDAY AFTERNOON

Since it was the little girl's birthday, technically she was the BOSS for the day. She basically decided on what to do and where to go for the rest of her birthday day.

First stop, ACTIVE FUN in Bonifacio Global City. She has been asking us to take her there for so many times...so this time, we granted her wish.

And for dinner, actually an early dinner...we headed South to sinced she requested for some noodles and soup. The birthday girl just loves her noodles. 

We have been reading great reviews about this new ramen joint so we all agreed that this one the right time to try it out. You can read our dining experience here.

The Month that was OCTOBER!

I have been out of circulation lately...guilty I should say coz' I haven't visited my BLOG site...honestly speaking, it has been almost 4 months since we moved back to the Philippines but still my adjustment period hasn't ended...it's like life is more stressful here...maybe its because of the daily driving I do to take the kids to school...

Well, anyways I know it's only myself that I have to explain to...:)
Hope my recap of this month's supposed to be blog subjects can compensate...Hihihi...

Dad's 40th Day ...
We remembered Dad during the 40th day after his death. It has been a sort of tradition with Filipinos to remember the dearly departed on this day because it has been believed that this is the day that they stop roaming around the earth and return to the Creator. Before dad's 40th day, I have been dreaming of him, it was always about him being sick...then the next day it was about his 40th day but the late Lola Agueda and Uncle Jaime were also there. Maybe it was a sign that they have met in the house of our Father.

We heard mass during that day, then proceeded to the cemetery and  prayed the Rosary. Afterwards, we had a simple gathering with people who also remembered dad on his 40th day.

The night of dad's 40th day, I had a dream again but this time around dad was smiling, he was happy...it was the image I want to remember about him...and I am happy because I know he is now at peace in heaven.

Asian Food Trip...

With our long stay in Singapore, we have been introduced with different cuisines and Korean food tops our list. Good thing that there is a sort of Korean invasion here in our place, we didn't have to go far just to satisfy our craving. The place we chose was SAM WON, a Korean Bbq place. It didn't let us down. The food was great, love the assortment of side dishes they have. The Japchae was the best I have tasted so far. Happy that my very choosy son tried and liked the food there. :)

 

 

The next day, while at the mall, we tried this new place, Black Canyon at SM Southmall. It offers Thai food with a twist. Actually, for me the name of the place doesn't even gave a connection with them serving Thai food. If one would tell me about Black Canyon, I would readily think that it is a steak house. Anyways, we tried their steamed fish and crab stick Thai salad. Food was alright but a bit pricey  and the serving size, well...just look at the photos...

Homelearning time...

Since we moved back to the Philippines, I was finally able to put out my homelearning materials and resources...been planning a lot of fun activities for the kiddos lately...hope I could keep up with the ideas I have in my head...really excited....







Trick or Treat...It's Halloween!

It all starts when kids have to choose the costumes they will be wearing for their school's Halloween Party. Little girl decided on a cute little witch outfit while my big boy chose to become a cross between a grim reaper and a death eater (Harry Potter). And again, this is the only time of the year that I let them consume the candy they want...as long as they brush their teeth afterwards...hahaha...

International Week at Rosemount Kindergarten

Rosemount Kindergarten had their International Week which started last Monday.

A lot of activities were presented to the students for them to learn more about other countries.

They had a great set-up in their Star Room. Parents were asked to bring in stuff they would wanna share about their home country. There was also a sort of show and tell sessions where Parent Volunteers did some hands-on activities with the kids. There was also a Pilot Daddy who talked about his job during the first day.

As you enter the Star Room, you will be greeted by "Immigration Officers" who would stamp on the passports of the students and they would then proceed to the various displays allocated for each country.

Today, to culminate the celebration, a parade was held with the kids dressing up in their National Costumes. For snacktime, they got to share some food from their country. 

I am happy that Paige gets to celebrate her being a Filipino.

Homelearning Fun...

I always supplement my kids school work with learning activities at home.
 
I always spend hours every night surfing the net for fun learning activities for my kids. I even joined a group of moms here in Singapore doing homelearning/homeschooling. 

I decided to have a mix of both Montessori and traditional learning methods.I want my kids to have the best of both :)

Making FILE FOLDER GAMES have been a hobby of mine lately. Call it a labor of love but I really enjoyed doing them. All you need are some file folders, cardstocks, double sided tape, and glue.

Bye Miss Mercedes...

I could still remember the smile that greeted Paige on her first day at school way back August of last year. It was such a lovely face that showed a nurturing quality for a teacher. But Paige wasn't convinced with the smile...she cried and didn't want to be left at school with the teacher. The teacher was Miss Mercedes.

Weeks passed, it was the same routine for Paige...crying and crying and crying. I was a little unsure of myself then on whether or not I should leave her in school. But Miss Mercedes assured me that all will be well and Paige will eventually realize that school is fun.

And she did, gone were the days when Paige would cry her lungs out to get my attention and make me feel sorry that I had to leave her. And it is all thanks to Miss Mercedes' patience with my little girl that she has now grown to love school.

It is very different now...Paige would be the one asking me to take her to school even on the weekends. I am just happy that she has this love for school. It is very important for me to see my kids have this attitude especially during their early years. It feels great for any parent to see their kids enjoy being in school because that way, they wouldn't think of school as a place that gives them lots of schoolwork but rather a place that helps them learn about great and exciting things.

For now, Miss Mercedes will be leaving for the UK and eventually move to Canada with her family. My little girl would surely miss her wonderful teacher. I am just happy and thankful that she became a part of my little girl's journey into learning.

P.S.

Tomorrow will be a new experience for Paige, a new teacher will be stepping in, her name is Miss Karen.

I sure hope the kids will adjust well with the new teacher.

Paolo had a "Bubu"...

I was surprised when Paolo arrived home from school with gauze bandages on both his knees. He handed me a Minor Incident report from the school nurse regarding abrasions on his knees.

Upon further "interrogation", he told me that one of his classmates kept on teasing him by pulling down his pants and that caused him to loose his balance and fall on his knees. Asked if he informed any on his teachers regarding the incident and all I got was a "NO." He said he could not locate his class teacher and that the PE teachers were busy.

I told him that if he was really concern about the incident, he should speak up and talk about it to his teacher. I advised him to still talk about it tomorrow because I can see that he is upset about the whole thing.

I also emailed his class teacher about it let him be aware of the incident.

It is always hard for any mom to see her kid being upset. If only I could make things better for him. But for now, all I could do is to tell him that some kids may be quite aggressive and playful in school and aren't aware that they are already causing hurt to others. The best thing to do is to always SPEAK UP.

On a side note, Paige was very much concerned about her Kuya Paolo's "bubu" that she told him that she will fight the boys hurting her Kuya because she is strong. I asked her how will she fight, her answer ..."I need a sword mom!" :)
